Student Handbook: Temporary zeros are added to a student’s gradebook to assist in providing students and Caretakers with the most accurate picture of their academic standing. When looking at a student’s gradebook, the letter grade may give a false sense of accomplishment if the grade is high and yet the percentage of completion is low. For example, if a student’s grade is an “A”, but they only have 2% of the work completed when there should be 30% of the work completed, the “A” is not an accurate indicator of the student’s academic performance. When temporary zeros are entered, the resulting grade is that which a student would be earning at that particular point in time based on the work completion thus far. Temporary zeros are added to students’ gradebooks at varying times depending on the course and students grade level.
